Kentucky has over 9,000 children in foster care and the number is growing
The number of children in need is growing and there aren’t enough homes to place children. These numbers indicate a crisis in our state, in our communities - and we need your help.
What is Foster Parenting?
In foster care, children live in a safe and loving home for a temporary period of time. Foster parenting is not a lifetime commitment to a child and his or her family, but a commitment to be meaningful in the child and family’s lifetime.

What We’ve Learned
What are the challenges, joys, and surprises foster families encounter? How does being a foster parent change your life?
Learn more about the fostering experience through other KIFS family’s stories.
We were inspired by a family that was fostering in our church and another family that we knew through a ministry we served in and were so impressed by their care and love for foster/ adopted children. We found KIFS specifically while I was looking for families that may need childcare through an ad on craigslist.
