Kentucky Intensive Family Services (KIFS) is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 organization devoted to providing the highest quality services to children and families. We provide Therapeutic, Medically Complex, and Respite Foster Care Services to children throughout the state of Kentucky and work with families interested in foster to adoption.

We strive to provide the highest quality of therapeutic services for children in foster care due to neglect, abuse, and dependency. Our mission is to ensure that each individual child may thrive in the therapeutic setting.

KIFS provides services that span the continuum of care with focus on the child’s physical, psychological, and social well-being.

Our services are directed toward use of community resources so as to develop a comprehensive network of services that will treat both the child and their family.

KIFS seeks to maintain the least restrictive environment for the child, to enhance their sense of normalcy and well-being, so that they may thrive in finding permanency.

KIFS provides foster children in the custody of Kentucky with loving, caring, therapeutic, foster homes. KIFS approves foster homes to provide the highest level of quality care to all children in need.

Children ages 0-21 are accepted into our Therapeutic Foster Care Program as long as bed space is available. KIFS does not discriminate based on age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual preference.

KIFS offers specialized training for foster parents to provide care for parenting teens in the system, as well as large siblings groups, and hard to place children with challenging behaviors.

KIFS was founded in 2003 by Lynn Eastman and his wife, Jeanne Eastman. Originally from Flint, Michigan Lynn and Jeanne saw a need for therapeutic services for foster children in the 1970’s, when they became foster parents themselves. From there, Lynn realized the need was greater than what he was providing in his own home, and knew he could do more. Lynn established foster care agencies in more than 5 states, including Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, and New Jersey.

With Jeanne to keep Lynn’s wild ambitions in check, the couple has successfully operated these programs for over 25 years throughout the Midwest region. Lynn and Jeanne retired at the end of 2016, and the current director, Jessica Schneider,  continues to build the agency based on the original idea that we can do more.

Jessica shares the vision that Lynn had when he started the program 14 years ago and continues working to provide the highest quality of care to the foster children placed in KIFS foster homes, to expand the service region, and add wrap-around services and programs for children and families.
