Kentucky has over 9,000 children in foster care and the number is growing

The number of children in need is growing and there aren’t enough homes to place children. These numbers indicate a crisis in our state, in our communities - and we need your help.

What is Foster Parenting?

In foster care, children live in a safe and loving home for a temporary period of time. Foster parenting is not a lifetime commitment to a child and his or her family, but a commitment to be meaningful in the child and family’s lifetime.

HOW IT WORKS

At KIFS we support our foster families and foster children every step of the way. Our entire staff, including our caring case workers take the guesswork out of becoming the best foster parent you can be.

I can call Jess in the middle of the might and tell her whatever happens and she answers the phone, she cares about what is going to happen with them. It’s a tiny agency that loves their kids, they are not overwhelmed by tons of kids. They treat you like family and that is the best part.

Foster Stories

What We’ve Learned

What are the challenges, joys, and surprises foster families encounter? How does being a foster parent change your life?

Learn more about the fostering experience through other KIFS family’s stories.

We were inspired by a family that was fostering in our church and another family that we knew through a ministry we served in and were so impressed by their care and love for foster/ adopted children. We found KIFS specifically while I was looking for families that may need childcare through an ad on craigslist.
